Sermons On "Holding Fast"(Rev 3:11):
- Bible Study by Mr Armstrong - "Zerubbabel's Temple" (given 21 July 1978 - played Wales UK 30th Aug 2003) (9.8Mb)
download stream
This Bible Study begins by Mr Armstrong recording a video clip to be used in the Feast Opening Night film. A little of this is missing on this particular recording. He then goes over the scriptures that deal with Zerubbabel's temple and shows how much of this material was actually talking directly to us in 1978 as Mr Armstrong was led to put the Church "back on Track". Such scriptures also talk of the same tasks that we today - in the 21st century - should be concerned with as we are - once again - led individually "back on Track."
- Sermon by Jon Bowles -- What is an Apostle. (given Modesto California 13th April 2002) (7.9Mb)
download stream
The sermon points out that "one sent" (the meaning of the Greek word "apostle") carries with it many vital things: Such a person was sent by God, not man (Gal 1:1), and sent for a specific reason -- to lay foundations within the Church of God (Eph 2:20). Such foundations imply illumination to the Truth for the first time (Rom 15:20) and must remain after an apostle's death (2Pet 1:15), as they were actually laid by Christ through him -- not by the man himself (1Cor 3:10-11, 4:16).

- Split Sermon by Jon Bowles - "Growing - While Holding Fast" (given Bristol UK 21 Jan 2006) (8.1Mb)
download stream
So many organisations - formerly part of WCG - try to justify their departure from the faith once delivered by quoting that we must "grow in grace and knowledge" (2Pet 3:18). But they fail to answer the real questions: Who does God indicate has the right to place Truth in His Church? What area must we grow in? What area must we hold fast, as commanded in Rev 3:11.

They crucified Him and then they began to accept His name, they went forth in the power of the authority of His name, with the prestige of His name, but they rejected His message. The message of Jesus Christ was the message of the Kingdom of God -- the good news of the World Tomorrow. ..."

Now we've been going though the New Testament to see what gospel Jesus did preach, what He taught His disciples, and the customs that He practiced. We have just seen during the past week how Jesus was sending His students -- His learners (because the word disciple means a student or a learner) -- out on a practice preaching mission. "

The spiritual legacy we have been left does not only consist of doctrines directly given within scripture. People sometimes use biblical quotations in day to day life, but so often misquote in some way. "Money is the root of all evil", is just one such quote. But only when you go back to 1Tim 6:10 and read what it really does say, do you discover its original, true, full meaning.

Mr Armstrong then goes back to the beginning in order to put both modern higher education, and the education of disciples (or students) within God's True Church, into their respective context. But it is only when you go to the original Greek version of the passage that the meaning becomes clear: To adequately feed and shepherd God's sheep requires the very love of God Himself. And that is something we all require.

That way has been revealed, the way has been made known, and men have always rejected it."

Now, we've been going through the New Testament to see what Jesus did teach, and what He taught His disciples, what they preached. (Rom 8:38-39)
